Australia has been declared the biggest celebration event of the Chinese New Year outside Asia Friday as it mounts a 17-day cultural festival in Sydney which will be going to end with the most beautiful and amazing twilight parade across the country.
Creative director Gill Minervini said that there will be almost 60 events on the night of the Chinese New year celebration which includes tea ceremonies and dragon boat racing. With more 600,000 people celebrated the last year’s event, they are hoping that this will double up or increase.
“It’s a cultural festival rather than a one day, New Year celebration,” Minervini told AFP of the February 12 to 28 events.
Minervini is always known as the director of every Lunar New Year celebrations and events which held at Sydney for almost 11 years now. He said that this year of the Tiger 2010 will be one of he most exciting year. He also added that because as one of the characteristics of the animal Tiger is leadership and that most of the people have the idea of what a Tiger personality is, this year will be more accessible and people can prepare on what could happen as the day goes by.
“It’s been a really fun one to do because it’s such a beautiful animal.” He added.
